With an ageing Australian population and high age correlation of visual loss, the prevalence of visual impairment is set to increase over time, doubling by 2024 as reported in the 2007 Austrlaian eye health data. Consequently, demand for eye care services will increase in the future, and in concurrence the demand for orthoptists to assist the ophthalmolgoists to provide the optimum eye care for patients.
